Decided to have a bit of a Change

Wanted a bit more room so decided to have a bit of a change to the blog template. Must fix up the banner but can't be bothered at the moment.

Day after Cyber Stitching day and I came down with a tummy bug so missed out on my final photography lesson which was a bit of a bummer because it was all about macro photography which I thought would be good for photographing craft. Still feeling a bit yuck today especially seeings I pushed it a bit last night going out with girls for dinner, food was yummy but suffered all night and today feeling a bit blah again, so onto the protein shakes today very bland.

I have been very slack on my embellishment course too, but I did manage to start lesson 2 on Tuesday night when I was feeling a bit better so here are the results. I now have 300 messages on the group email list to catch up with ugh..... Just found out that my lens doesn't do real close ups like I just wanted it to do so looks like after Loxton I will be saving up for that macro lens that I have been looking at.

Cyber Stitching Day

Here we are stitching for the Cyber Stitching Day. Well the other girls were stitching I managed to get two eyes on a dragon fly done and that was it. But I did trace all the blocks for the little quilt. We had a lovely afternoon chatting and nibbling on afternoon tea (scones weren't very successful this time as I forgot them in the oven so they were a bit crisp lol).

Thanks girls for coming it was fun. Wonder if photoshop elements can get rid of double chin's must look (few more months on the diet will hopefully get rid of them by the time next cyber stitching day is on).

P4P June Ornie Swap

Here is my lovely wire ornie tree covered with the last two ornie swaps from the Passion 4 Primitive Ornies. They are all just fabulous. I am really amazed by these talented girls and the ideas that they come up with.

I've been tagged

The rules of the game get posted at the beginning. Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer.
I don't like to do tags but here are my answers (see answer to what I was doing 10 years ago).
a) What was I doing 10 years ago?

I was temping and was working on a Whole of Government Electronic Messaging Project and learning so much about technology and working with email and how it can make organisation of your working life so much easier. This is why I don't like to tag and don't forward jokes and stuff using email because I have seen what happens when a few people do it in a business situation. I have taken the knowledge of using Outlook really well wherever I have worked and it really has helped me be really organised (at work) not so organised at home still. I got to learn so much from all the Tech heads and really enjoyed my working life. I think we had been in our house at Grange for 12 months and we were probably trying to have a baby so it might have been the time that we started getting help from the Medical profession luckily we didn't end up having to go through IVF.
b) What are 5 things on my to-do list for today:

1. Vacum (and that was it)

My son had a tummy bug today so we have been having a slow one.

c) Snacks I enjoy:

I am on a diet so I don't get to enjoy snacks. At the moment it can be anything as long as it is protein.

d) Things I would do if I were a billionaire:

Buy a nice home for me, the kids and my family. Make sure none of them would have to worry about things that money could buy. Donate lots to charity, especially Cancer research. Do what ever course with whoever I wanted in any part of the world to extend my creativity. And most importantly I would have someone to do all the housework.

e) Places I have lived:

I am very boring lived in Pasadena, SA and Grange SA.

Fabulous Mail Week

I got my order from the Thread Studio with a silk cap in rainbow colours as well as the Beautiful Bowl Book by Kath Danswan and I can't wait to sit and have a play with the these two, a few more supplies have to be gathered though which will have to wait until pay day. Also got another book from Amazon, Stitch Dissolve Distort with machine embrodiery which I haven't had a chance to even look at yet but hope to sit down over the weekend and pour over it.

But the best delivery was yesterday when I was the first to receive the ornies from the Passion 4 Primitive forum Christmas ornie swap. Because I got them first (apart from the swap mamma) I can't share them with you until all the other girls have theirs but I have taken lots and lots of photo's of my lovely wire tree which now is full of all these handmade goodies. That group is very talented it is amazing how they come up with different ornies all the time. I have only been in two swaps but lots of the girls have done heaps and they keep coming up with better ornies each quarter. Next time the group is mixing it up a bit with 4 swaps being held at the same time. I am doing winged things and Halloween, I thought by doing it this way there would be less ornies to make but I was wrong there is more because I picked the two most popular swaps so I have to make 20 I think (half one winged things and half Halloween).

I keep my wire tree up all year in my sewing room but I have bought it out and put it on my dining room table for the Cyber Stitching Day next weekend.

I have been working on Seasons by Gail Pan I was hoping to have the first two rows done by Loxton, but I might even be able to finish the quilt centre will have to work extra hard over next couple of weeks though I might have a few other things that I have to finish first.... birthday swaps.... ornies ..... work.... oh well, its a plan anyway.

Embellisher Challenge

Here is my embellisher challenge piece. I think it came out ok. I cut up all my sampler pieces to make the figures. The anemones were embellished on organza the fish on felt. Used some lovely variegated threads to do the hand embroidery.
Went to the Port Dock Markets today, lots of people there and went with kids and husband which is never a good move lol. Would love to fossic in some of the antique stalls but always scared that the kids are going to break something because no matter how many times you tell them not to touch they can't help themselves.

Lesson 1 Embellish

Here is my first piece of embellishiment (that I am willing to show anyone
) did try a bit with some earthy tones it came out a bit yuck so I won't be posting any photos. At the end
of the lesson Dale has given us a challenge and I think I will be using it as the background. I am going to try for an underwater scene. Might be a bit ambitious I know, now I am going to do some bright fabrics to use as fish, well that is the plan anyway.

I have also posted a picture of my quilt which I made from Leannes block that we made at last years trip to Loxton. All that has been missing is the final border which I was a be nervous about putting on because of the mitred corners but it was relatively easy.

Embellishing

Met with my quilting friends and we drooled over our embellishing bits and pieces. I just got the bill for my last shop at the Thread Studio (and I spent a bit more than I should have) and now that I have seen what Kay has in her stash I have to order some more. Got a skein of silk thread today from Lincraft but I think Kay's from the Thread Studio was nicer. Going to try and go out and have a play tonight.

I have finalised afternoon tea for the Cyber Stitching Day with Mrs Martin's Quilt Shop and we are holding it the day after on 22nd due to photography commitments on my part.
