Favourite Things Friday

This is another sewing related FTF.  My Favourite Things Friday is paper piecing I just can't get enough of it at the moment.

I can't say that I have always liked it ... I have shocking memories of a quilt made by my grandma using 70's sample fabrics and it has taken me a long time to get over that monstrosity.  However now with busy finger papers put together with templates to cut the fabric and the technique of basting with a glue stick it gets you stitching in no time add to this Busy Fingers Needles which are superfine and sharp for quick piecing.

I have signed up for a new BOM through Hetties for more paper piecing fun, I'm doing the contemporary option.  Might even have to get out the old Pies and Tarts now but I have a few new projects to start before I go back to that one.

I have even included paper piecing in my new big project.  Check up more FTF at Mrs P's.

The coasters are gorgeous! I cannot even wrap my head around paper-piecing. If ever I decide to give it a try, I know who I'm coming to for instructions! ☺ Thanks for sharing. Happy FTF!

I'm slowly doing some hexies as part of my scrap management - haven't got as far as thinking what I will do with them though (a full quilt seems too ambitious), the coasters could be the answer! Thanks.

Paper piecing is a relatively new skill for me, and it's something I probably need to do a couple times a year just so I don't forget how, ha. Have fun with your project. I love those hexie Christmas coasters!

LOVE those hexie coasters. I tried Paper piecing earlier this year and quite enjoyed it.

And I did my first hexie flower last week and really enjoyed it (the glue method worked for me !)

Me too Amanda! Just signed up for the BOM, contemporary colours at Hetties. I am really loving the paper piecing thing. even dragged the pies and tarts out the other day. I have spent hours on those pies and tarts and yet so very little of that quilt is finished lol! As soon as I had the bits and pieces spread around me though, I was in love all over again. Planning to do just a little every week on it. Concentrating on it just makes me frustrated and upset! If you do drag the pies and tarts out make sure to post a peek of it, I would love to see it!

The hexie coasters are lovely. I really enjoy English paper piecing, I'm finding it a very enjoyable process. I'm looking forward to seeing your new project and the BOM.
