15 Minute Challenge and a couple of finishes

Another 7 out of 7 week.  Its amazing how much you can do when you have a deadline fast approaching.

One of the finishes was this skirt for Mo, I started it last weekend and finished it during the week.  I tried one earlier in the year but it ended up to big in the waist and a bit indecent in length.  This one is just right... though she wanted it shorter but after I demonstrated how much butt she would be showing even with tights she let me do the length I wanted to.  There is now an order for a couple of tartan skirts... and I am lamenting the tartan I sold on ebay 18 months ago.

Block 4 which turns out to be Block 6 when I look at the quilt image was finished.  I have moved on to block 8 which is proving to be quicker to stitch and is well on the way to being finished.  Probably another night or two depending if I do some pattern writing tonight instead.

I've had a couple of sales of the block patterns already from  my etsy shop already and the offical start date hasn't even happened yet, so I am hoping this quilt is going to be successful.

This week I am having an extra day off to help my hubby with some errands and work life is cranking up for the busy time of year.  Hopefully I can keep everything running smoothly and stress free.

15 Minute Challenge and Block 4 nearly finished

Block 4 is nearly done.  I’ve been sewing on average 2 hours a night and its another 7/7 week.  There is a lot of work in this block, I’m hoping that tonight it will be finished.  I’m going to go on to some of the blocks that a little less involved for a couple of weeks to get some more finishes under my belt and leave the other flower ring to the end.

I need to get onto the pattern writing as well.  Pattern 1 and 2 are ready to go but I still want to get most of the others ready by early July so that gives me plenty of breathing space to just concentrate on the borders while the BOM is in full swing.  Basic instructions are all the same for each block it is just progress shots and applique order that changes and the patterns and templates of course and it all takes time which takes time away from stitching.

It’s a long weekend this weekend for the Queen’s Birthday and yesterday it rained all day, but today the sun is out in full so I’m getting some more washing on the line early so hopefully it will dry.

Block 2 Uploaded to Etsy Springtime Romance BOM

15 Minute Challenge Block 4 Progress

It still doesn’t look like much but there are a couple more flowers to start on and most of these will have another 2 or 3 layers added to them before the block is finished and a probably another few hours of stitching.

It’s been another 7 out of 7 week.

Got to say I am a little down at the start of this week due to some family stuff.  I’m sure I’ll shake it off as the week goes by but I’ve had a couple of kicks in the guts that I swore I wouldn’t let get to me anymore but guess what I am a little heartbroken yet again.  Luckily the family I made is there for me. What makes me smile now is the house is full of sounds of Mo practicing her ukulele and Maestro singing with his deep baritone to one his favourites tunes at the moment.

15 Minute Challenge and Block 5 nearly finished

Another 7 out of 7 this week.

I have been stitching up a storm on this block and it has taken all week to have it nearly finished.  One more small flower to go and flower centres and the blocks all done.  I keep saying this is Block 5 but I looked at the image today and it isn't block 5 it's block 7.  Oh well.

My goal was to get 3 blocks finished in May and I think I will do it and make a good start on another block.  I'm behind on writing the patterns but I will get there, I think it is better that the actual blocks get sewn than the patterns get written.  I have all the templates printed off so that they can get scanned and edited.

My goal for June will be to have another 3 blocks finished, that will only leave me 2 for July.

12 months ago, we had our sewing retreat.  We planned to do it again this year, but we hadn't got around to planning it, we now have a date.  It won't be quite as long as last time but I'm sure we will pack a lot of sewing into it, just waiting on confirmation from 1 of the girls and we will book in to sewing down the coast.  Can't wait.

Mo's passport arrived last week so her Japan trip is getting more real..... don't know how I feel about that.

15 Minute Challenge - Green Tea and Sweet Beans

Another  7 out of 7 this week.

The Green Tea and Sweet Beans BOM that I have been collecting from Amitie was a little behind.  I decided this week I would use the week to catch up.  I just have to do some berries on the last applique block and then I am up to date until the next block is due at the beginning of the month.  Here are all the blocks I finished this week.

Can't complain about the amount of fabric they give you for the BOM I have a lovely big pile and we have been given templates for the filler blocks so I can start on them anytime.

I will be heading back to my applique block this week.  The next one I am working on is another of the Vase blocks and it is pretty full on... I don't think I will get that one finished this week but I will make a go of it.

Mo has had the lurgy  and she ended up having Friday home from school, she has heaps of assignments due and they will have exams in a couple of weeks so she has been a bit anxious about everything.  Maestro has lots of assignments and test and exams coming up as well.

Free BOM Springtime Romance starting 1/7/2019

My new BOM is set to start on 1/7/2019.  I hope to get most of the patterns loaded in my Etsy shop before then.  3 Blocks are stitched and all the blocks have designs.  Block 1 is already available here.

They will be for sale in my Etsy shop for ever but will also be available for free from this blog on the Springtime Romance page for the first week of the month for each block of the month.  The requirements sheet and basic information can be downloaded from the Springtime Romance Page and  will be part of the dowload for each block so you will never miss out even if you start months down the track.
