15 minute Challenge and Block 3 Springtime Romance

Another 7 out of 7 this week.  One of those days was wrangling with EQ but I'm counting that towards this as it was printing off templates and finalising designs.

This week all of the stitching was for Block 3 of Springtime Romance which I finished yesterday.  This one was one of the simpler blocks of the quilt so I powered through.  I'm having a break from  Springtime Romance it this week as I need to get caught up with Green Tea and Sweet Beans BOM and I am also signed up for Dear Jen.  The blocks for Dear Jen look like quite a challenge so that one might be on the when Romance is finished list.

Want to see how every one went this week head to Kate's

Happy Mother’s Day

This is my present from Mo, it is one of her originals.   She does wonderful life like sketches but I love her cartoon drawings as well.  I think I am going to get it framed.

Had a bit of a disaster this week with EQ and my BOM. The project file got corrupted.  Luckily I was able to salvage all the blocks and it was just the quilts that are lost.  I had about 9 or 10 versions of the build up and had started designing the borders but I can get it back to where I was with a bit of work and things may change from now until then.  I have printed off all the templates for each file and have image files ready to scan for each block.  Luckily the borders were mainly still just in my head and I have already tweaked a couple of ideas so there isn’t much work lost.

According to EQ this is a rare occurrence but this is the 2nd time it has happened to me.  I think last time it was more of a disaster than this time.  Though it could have been worse if I couldn’t salvage the blocks.  I think the file corrupted because the Mac switched off while the file was open I have been have a few issues due to a Microsoft Office update that was stuck and was slowing every thing down and wouldn’t let me restart or force quite so I pulled the plug.  BLOODY MICROSOFT and its automatic updates.

15 Minute Challenge Block 2 of Springtime Romance Finished

Another 7 out of 7 this week though some of those days I did only the 15 minute other days I went way over.

Block 2 is finished and I hope to start on block 3 tonight, though I did mess up with the backbasting and jumped the gun on the vase when I should have put the stems in first.  Going to see if I can work around it.

I went to sewing class this Thursday, can't go for a couple of weeks as I have appointments but it was good to sit and stitch for a couple of hours on my "free" day. I took my Green Tea and Sweet Beans block which I am doing with Amitie.  I have fallen a bit behind on Green Tea while doing Romance BOM so I though it was a good opportunity to catch up.  I have a drunkards path block to finish from last month and 3 from this month.  The first block Poppie had 8 templates for the 6" block it was a bit of a mongrel to get together and had me unpicking a bit.  I just have
appliqué the flower on now.  Once I got the templates round the right way it wasn't so hard to put together.

I have a goal to get another 2 blocks of Springtime Romance finished by the end of the month.  Block 2 was full on with the amount of pieces.  There a two more wreath block which are probably going to be as much work but I might leave them to a bit later and tackle another couple of vases this month.  I've traced all the blocks on the background so it is just basting and applique from now on and pattern writing of course.

I did some stash building as well this week, from a new shop I found on etsy.  She does the most beautiful wrapping.

Head to Kates to see how everyone did this week.

15 Minute Challenge

Another 7 out of 7 this week.

Made a skirt for Mo which turned out to be too big in the waist, will have to make some adjustments to the pattern.   I did hem it after this picture was taken.

I'm well underway to finish Block 2 of the BOM, flowers to go and had some nice time sitting in the sunshine stitching Saturday and today.   I purchased border fabric, which wasn't my first choice but will blend in well with what I am using for block backgrounds.

Maestro is back at Uni today and Mo goes back to school tomorrow.  I think they had a good break though Maestro did work more than half the 2 weeks he had off.  Mo's boyfriend spent a lot of time here, which she wasn't too sure about at the beginning of the holidays as it would cut down on her vegging in her PJ's all day time but she must have got over it.  She spent a lot of time drawing as well and left a bit of time for homework.

Well that's me for this week, it was nice to have a short week last week with Easter and Anzac Day.

How did your week go check out who else met the challenge at Kate's place.

Happy Easter and the 15 minute challenge

Its school holidays and uni break happens at the same time this term.  We did the big 6 months check at the dentist on Thursday and I've been enjoying a 5 day break from work.  I've been doing lots of stitching have worked on Eq starting to get the borders worked out for the BOM and finished the first block.  I have started working on the first block pattern.  It should be easy to get them all done before the start as the blocks are all the same size it will just be the templates that will change.

I had an idea for the big border the other day and it is starting to look beautiful on the screen hopefully it will look as good in fabric.  Here is the start of block 2 lot of leaves in this one and it is the first of the wreath blocks

Mo and I went to see the musical Aladdin on Saturday night it was wonderful.  I haven't been to see a musical in a long time.  It was something I always did with my Mum and it just wasn't the same.  We had a lovely time and Mo is hooked, I think we will be going to see more in the future.

The picture below is of Adelaide Oval from the other side of the river it was so pretty with it all lit up with Cathedral in the background.

With all the work above on the quilt I had another 7 out of 7 this week.   I also helped Mo with a birthday present she wanted to make for a birthday party she is going to this week and she made a scrunchie from some fabric we bought at the Quilt show a couple of weeks ago.

Lots and lots of sewing happening in this neck of the woods.

See how everyone else is going at Kate's

15 Minute Challenge Lots of Stitching Going On

Another 7 out of 7 for this week.  There is lots of sewing to do over the next few weeks so I'm hoping for lots more 7 out of 7's in the coming months.

I've made a big effort on this years BOM and given myself a deadline for the kick off to be the first week in July.

I'm also going to try and get the 9 blocks posted in my Etsy Shop by the beginning so that just leave the final putting it together instructions to go up when the quilt is finished which won't be till later in the year fingers crossed all goes to plan and the wheels don't fall off.

Its school holidays, Maestro is also on a break from Uni but I think he will be working most of it.  Mo has quite a bit going on birthdays, sleepover with her primary school friends and her boyfriend apparently needs to see her a fair bit which she is still negotiating on as it cuts down on her days she can sit in her room and draw in her PJ's.  We also have to fit in her passport application as she is going to Japan with School at the end of the 3rd term.

My Green Tea and Sweet Bean's Month 3 came today so that is on the sewing agenda as well.  I left one of the blocks from last month to wait on the fabric for this month just to mix it up a bit.  And I'm nearly halfway through the appliqué for the border of  Pretty Circle Game.

As you can see lots to get on with so there won't be much excuse for not getting 7 out of 7 done over the next little while.
